Inspection & Repair
- Check that the tooth surface of each gear wheel is not worn or damaged, replace if necessary.
- Check that each bearing is not worn or damaged, replace if necessary.
- Check the gear wheels of the countershaft for wear or broken teeth, replace if necessary.
- Check the teeth surface of the splines and gear wheels on the input shaft, replace if necessary.
- Check that the transmission extension housing and the bushing is pressed into the extension housing. Neither should be damaged. Measure the diametric clearance between the bushing and the universal-joint of the spline shaft to the transmission shaft; its normal clearance is 0.02 - 0.06 mm. Service limit is 0.1mm. If the clearance exceeds the service limit, it can make the splined shaft rock in the bushing and generate vibration. If so, the bushing and extension housing pressed assembly must be replaced.
- Check each bearing and replace those showing signs of wear.
