Removal & Installation

  1. Turn ignition off. On 1994 models, remove fuse No. 24. On 1995 models, fuse 1 (11B/1) in central relay unit(in engine compartment, in front of left shock tower).
  2. On all models, remove sound insulation and left front valance. See Fig 1 .
  3. Remove ECM. See Fig 2 .
  4. To install, check ECM and connectors for damage to pins and sleeves. Install ECM. Replace sound insulation and left front valance. Replace fuse. See Fig 1 .
NOTE: Programming a new Engine Control Module (ECM) requires a Volvo factory scan tool. Aftermarket scan tools may not be able to program a replacement ECM.
