Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Toyota Sequoia. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: The vehicle is equipped with an SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) which includes components such as airbags. Before servicing (including removal or installation of parts), be sure to read Precaution for the supplemental restraint system (See PRECAUTION ).
  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER - SPIRAL CABLE)
    1. Disconnect the I24 navigation receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the H54 spiral cable connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      STANDARD RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I24-8 (SW2) - H54-5 (AU2) Always Below 1 Ω
      I24-6 (SWG) - H54-4 (EAU)
      I24-7 (SW1) - H54-6 (AU1)
I24-8 (SW2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I24-6 (SWG) - Body ground
      I24-7 (SW1) - Body ground
    4. Reconnect the spiral cable connector.
    5. Reconnect the navigation receiver assembly connector.

  2. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE
    1. Disconnect the z12 and H54 spiral cable connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      STANDARD RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
H54-4 (EAU) - z12-8 (EAU) Spiral cable is turned 2.5 rotations counterclockwise Below 1 Ω
      Spiral cable is centered
Spiral cable is turned 2.5 rotations clockwise
      H54-5(AU2) - z12-9 (AU2) Spiral cable is turned 2.5 rotations counterclockwise
      Spiral cable is centered
Spiral cable is turned 2.5 rotations clockwise
      H54-6(AU1) - z12-10 (AU1) Spiral cable is turned 2.5 rotations counterclockwise
      Spiral cable is centered
Spiral cable is turned 2.5 rotations clockwise
CAUTION: The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read Precaution for the supplemental restraint system (See PRECAUTION ).

    1. Disconnect the z12 steering pad switch assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      STANDARD RESISTANCE

Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
9 (AU2) - 8 (EAU) No switch is pushed 100 kΩ or higher
MODE switch pushed Below 1 Ω
On Hook switch pushed 312 to 345 Ω
Off Hook switch pushed 950 to 1050 Ω
Voice switch is pushed 2954 to 3265 Ω
10(AU1) - 8(EAU) No switch is pushed 100 kΩ or higher
      Seek+ switch pushed Below 1 Ω
      Seek- switch pushed 312 to 345 Ω
      Volume+ switch is pushed 950 to 1050 Ω
Volume- switch is pushed 2954 to 3265 Ω
    3. Reconnect the steering pad switch assembly connector.

NG: REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  )
