- PERFORM INITIALIZATION (SFI SYSTEM)
- Apply the parking brake and chock the vehicle.
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Put the engine in the inspection mode (See INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE ).
- Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Coolant Temp.
- Warm up the engine with the A/C switch off until the coolant temperature becomes 83°C (181°F) or more.
- Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / SOC.
- Move the shift lever to the N position, set the A/C switch to MAX cool or turn on the front defroster, and leave the vehicle until the SOC value becomes below 40%.
HINT:
If the SOC is substantially below 40%, the HV battery may become fully discharged. Therefore, do not allow the SOC to reach substantially below 40%.
- Move the shift lever to the P position and turn the power switch off.
- Disconnect the negative terminal from the auxiliary battery and leave it for 1 minute or more.
- Reconnect the negative terminal to the auxiliary battery and turn the power switch on (IG).
- Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Coolant Temp.
- Check that the engine coolant temperature is 83°C (181°F) or more.
HINT:
If the engine coolant temperature is below 83°C (181°F), start the engine by depressing the accelerator pedal with the shift lever in the P position to increase the coolant temperature.
- Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Calculate Load.
- Move the shift lever to the D position while depressing the brake pedal with your left foot.
- Depress the accelerator pedal with your right foot while firmly depressing the brake pedal with your left foot, and maintain an engine load value of 45% or more (accelerator pedal depressed 60 to 70%) for approximately 30 seconds.NOTE: Do not perform this step for 40 seconds or more.
- Shift the shift lever to the P position. Turn the power switch off and then wait for 5 seconds before putting the vehicle into the READY-on state again.
- Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / ISC Learning.
- Check that the air conditioner is off. Lightly depress the accelerator pedal and release it when the engine starts.
- Check that "Complete" is displayed on the Techstream screen.
HINT:
- If "ISC Learning" is not completed within 1 minute, repeat steps (o) through (r).
- The engine will usually stop when "ISC Learning" is completed. However, the engine will not stop even when "ISC Learning" is completed in such cases when the charge level of the auxiliary battery is decreased.
- DESCRIPTION OF INITIALIZATION (TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM)
- Perform initialization in the following cases:
- Before delivery of a new vehicle.
- After replacement of the tire pressure warning ECU*.
- After replacement of the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter*.
- Specified tire pressure changes depending on the size or type of the tire.
HINT:
*: Perform initialization after the transmitter ID registration is completed (See REGISTRATION ).
- Before initialization
- Set the air pressure of all wheels to the specified value (See INSPECTION ).
NOTE: Make sure the tires are cooled down.
- Perform initialization in the following cases:
- INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE (TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM)
- Turn the power switch to ON.
- Press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch for 3 seconds or more so that the tire pressure warning light blinks 3 times.
- Turn the power switch off.
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the tester on.
- Enter the following menus: Chassis / Tire Pressure Monitor / Data List.
- Check that the initialization has been completed.
- Confirm that the tire pressure data of all tires are displayed on the tester screen.
NOTE:
- The initialization is normally completed within 2 to 3 minutes.
- If the initialization has not been completed successfully, DTC C2177/77 is set after a vehicle speed of 8 km/h (5 mph) or more continues for 20 minutes or more.
- The initialization can be terminated by connecting terminals TC and CG of the DLC3 connector.

- DESCRIPTION OF CODE REGISTRATION (TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM)
- It it necessary to register the transmitter ID in the tire pressure warning ECU when replacing the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter and/or tire pressure warning ECU.
Prepare all transmitter ID data before starting registration.
- Before registration
- If replacing the tire pressure warning ECU:
- Read the registered transmitter IDs that are stored in the old ECU using Techstream and note them down.
- If reading stored transmitter IDs is impossible due to malfunctions of components such as the tire pressure warning antenna and receiver, remove the tires from the wheels and check the IDs located on the tire pressure warning valves and transmitters. Refer to TIRE PRESSURE WARNING VALVE AND TRANSMITTER
- If replacing the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter:
- take a note of the 7 digit number (transmitter ID) written on the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter.
NOTICE:
The transmitter ID is written on the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter. It will be unable to be read after installing the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter on the tire and wheel. Therefore, take a note of the transmitter ID before installing the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter.
- take a note of the 7 digit number (transmitter ID) written on the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter.
- If replacing the tire pressure warning ECU:
- Before registration
- It it necessary to register the transmitter ID in the tire pressure warning ECU when replacing the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter and/or tire pressure warning ECU.
- REGISTER TRANSMITTER ID (USING TECHSTREAM) (TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM)
- Set the air pressure of all wheels to the specified value. Refer to INSPECTION
- Turn the power switch off.
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch on (IG) and techstream on.
- Enter the menu items in this order: Chassis / Tire Pressure Monitor / Utility / ID Registration
- Perform the following procedures displayed on the screen.
- Confirmation of transmitter ID registration.
- Enter the menu items in this order: Chassis / Tire Pressure Monitor / Data List
- Read the "ID Tire Inflation Pressure" values.
- Confirm that the data of tire pressure of all tires are displayed on the screen.
- It may take up to about 2 or 3 minutes to update the tire pressure data. If the values are not displayed after a few minutes, perform troubleshooting according to the inspection procedure for DTCs C2121/21 to C2124/24, Refer to DESCRIPTION
- If the IDs have not been registered, DTC C2171/71 is set in the tire pressure warning ECU after 3 minutes or more.
- If normal pressure values are displayed, the IDs have been registered correctly.
- If the tire pressure values are not displayed after a few minutes, the IDs may be incorrect or the system may have a malfunction.
- After all IDs are registered, DTC C2126/26 (Transmitter ID not REceived in Main Mode) is set in the tire pressure warning ECU and the tire perssure warning light blinks for 1 minute and then comes on. When the tire pressure warning ECU successfully receives radio waves from all the transmitters whoes IDs are stored in the ECU, DTC C2126/26 is deleted and the tire pressure warning light goes off.
NOTICE:
- DESCRIPTION (ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM)
- Perform initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration when the skid control ECU, brake acuator or brake pedal stroke sensor is replaced.
Follow the procedure to perform initialization.
HINT:
- If there is a problem with the auxiliary battery (12 V) voltage, initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration cannot be completed normally. Make sure to check the auxilary battery voltage before performing initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration.
- If the actuator's temperature is high, initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration may not be completed normally. In such a case, wait until the temperature decreases and then perform initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration.
- If the power switch is turned off, the brake pedal is operated or vehicle speed is input while the linear solenoid valve offset learning is being performed, the learning will be cancelled.

- Clear the stored value of linear solenoid valve and calibration data.
- Turn the power switch off.
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Move the shift lever to the P position.
- Turn the power switch on (IG) with the brake pedal released.
- Perform the Reset Memory function under the ABS/VSC/TRAC menu.
- Perform initialization of linear solenoid valve.
- Perform zero point calibration of yaw rate and acceleration sensor. Refer to CALIBRATION .
- Perform the initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration.
- Turn the power switch off.
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Move the shift lever to the P position.
- Turn the power switch on (IG) with the brake pedal released.
NOTICE:
- If the linear solenoid valve offset learning is performed without turning the power switch on (IG), the learning process may not be completed properly because of insufficient auxiliary battery voltage.
- When the linear solenoid valve offset learning is interrupted, or the learning process is performed with the shift lever not in the P position, DTC C1345/66 will be stored. Refer to DTC C1345/66 LINEAR SOLENOID VALVE OFFSET LEARNING
- Set Techstream to Test Mode (select "ECM* Utility").

HINT:
Refer to the Techstream operator's manual for further details.
- Leave the vehicle stationary without depressing the brake pedal for 1 or 2 minutes.
- Check that the interval between blinks of the brake control warning light changes from 1 second to 0.25 seconds.
HINT:
- The time needed to complete initalization of linear solenoid valve and calibration varies depending on auxiliary battery voltage.
- The brake control warning light blinks at 1 second intervals during initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration and changes to the Test Mode display.
- The brake control warning light blinks at 0.25 seconds intervals if the Test Mode is normal.
- Check that DTC C1345/66 which indicates trouble with stroke sensor zero point learning is not output when the brake control warning light changes to the Test Mode display upon inilitalization of linear solenoid valve and calibration completion.
- Enter the normal mode from the Test Mode following Techstream prompts.

- Clear the stored value of linear solenoid valve and calibration data.
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION OF LINEAR SOLENOID VALVE AND CALIBRATION (SST CHECK WIRE) (ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM)
- Clear the stored value of linear solenoid valve and calibration data.
- Turn the power switch off.
- Move the shift lever to the P position.
- Turn the power switch on (IG) with the brake pedal released.
- Using SST, connect and disconnect terminals TS and CG of the DLC3 4 times or more within 8 seconds.
SST 09843-18040
- Check that no codes other than ABS code 42, VSC code 45 and Electronically Controlled Brake code 48, 66, or 95 are stored in the diagnostic system.
HINT:
- The ABS warning, brake control warning lights and multi information display do not indicate the normal system code.
- Illustrations may differ from the actual screen displayed depending on the specifications of the vehicle and customized settings.
- Remove the SST from the terminals of the DLC3.
- Using the check wire, perform initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration.
- Perform initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration.
- Turn the power switch off.
- Using SST, connect terminals TS and CG of the DLC3.

- Move the shift lever to the P position.
- Turn the power switch on (IG) with the brake pedal released.NOTE:

- Check that DTC C1345/66 which indicates trouble with stroke sensor zero point learning is not output when the brake control warning light changes to the Test Mode display upon initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration completion.
- Turn the power switch off and disconnect the SST from the DLC3.
- Clear the stored value of linear solenoid valve and calibration data.
- DESCRIPTION (ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM)
- After replacing the VSC relevant components or performing "Front wheel alignment adjustment", clear and read the sensor calibration data.
- Follow the chart to perform calibration.

- While obtaining the zero point, keep the vehicle stationary and do not vibrate, tilt, move, or shake it. (Do not turn the power switch on (READY)).
- Be sure to perform this procedure on a level surface (with an inclination of less than 1 degree).
- Clear the zero point calibration data.
- Turn the power switch off.
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Check that the steering wheel is centered and move the shift lever to the P position.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Operate Techstream to erase the codes (select "Reset Memory").

Refer to the Techstream operator's manual for further details.
- Turn the power switch off.
- Perform zero point calibration of the yaw rate and acceleration sensor.
- Turn the power switch off.
- Check that the steering wheel is centered and move the swift level to the P position.
NOTICE:
DTCs C1210/36 and C1336/98 will be recorded if the shift lever is not in the P position (Refer to DTC C1210/36 and C1336/98
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Set Techstream to Test Mode (select "Test Mode").
HINT:
Refer to the Techstream operator's manual for further details.
- After the Test Mode has been entered, keep the vehicle stationary on a level surface for 2 seconds or more.
- Check that the ABS warning, brake control warning and master caution indicator lights blink and a check VSC system message is displayed on the multi information display (Test Mode).
HINT:
- The SLIP indicator remains on during Test Mode because TRAC is prohibited.
- If the ABS warning, brake control warning and master caution indicator lights do not blink and/or a check VSC system message is not displayed on teh multi information display, perform zero point calibration again.
- The zero point calibration is performed only once after the system enters the Test Mode.
- Calibration cannot be performed again until the stored data is cleared.
- Illustrations may differ from the actual screen displayed depending on the specifications of the vehicle and customized settings.
- Turn the power switch off and disconnect Techstream.
- PERFORM ZERO POINT OF YAW RATE AND ACELERATION SENSOR (SST CHECK WIRE) (ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM)
NOTICE:
- While obtaining the zero point, keep the vehicle stationary and do not vibrate, tilt, move, or shake it. (Do not turn the power switch on READY).
- Be sure to perform this procedure on a level surface (with an inclination of less than 1 degree).
- Clear the zero point calibration data.
- Turn the power switch off.
- Check that the steering wheel is centered and move the shift lever to the P position.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Check that the warning light and indicator light come on and remains on until the power switch is turned on (READY).
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Using SST, connect and disconnect terminals TS and CG of the DLC3 4 times or more within 8 seconds.

- Check that no codes other than ABS code 42, VSC code 45 and Electronically Controlled Brake code 48, 66, or 95 are stored in the diagnostic system.

- Check that the ABS warning, brake control warning and master caution indicator lights blink and a check VSC system message is displayed on the multi information display (Test Mode).
HINT:
- The SLIP indicator remains on during Test Mode because TRAC is prohibited.
- If the ABS warning, brake control warning and master caution indicator lights do not blink and/or a check VSC system message is not displayed on the multi information display, perform zero point calibration again.

- ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR VALUE INITIALIZATION AND TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION (ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM) NOTE: Clear the rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the rotation angle sensor value, and calibrate the torque sensor zero point if any of the following has occurred:
- The power steering ECU assembly has been replaced.
- The power steering link assembly has been replaced.
- Steering effort differs between left and right.
- Inspection before calibration
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Turn Techstream on.
- Check the IG power supply voltage on the tester screen. Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Data List.

NOTE: If the IG power supply voltage is 10 V or less, calibration cannot be performed. - If DTC C1516 (Torque Sensor Zero Point Adjustment Incomplete) is stored, the torque sensor zero point cannot be calibrated. Clear the DTC before starting calibration.
- If DTC C1526 (Rotation Angle Sensor Initialization Incomplete) is stored, the rotation angle sensor value cannot be initialized. Clear the DTC before starting initialization.
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Turn Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Utility / Torque / Sensor Adjustment.
- Follow the procedures on the tester display to clear the rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the rotation angle sensor value, and calibrate the torque sensor zero point.NOTE:
- When initializing the rotation angle sensor value, observe the following to stabilize sensor voltage:
After turning the power switch on (IG), wait for at least 2.5 seconds before turning the steering wheel. Do not turn the steering wheel quickly.
- The steering wheel will vibrate during torque sensor zero point calibration. Do not touch the steering wheel while it is vibrating or for 2 seconds after it stops.
- When initializing the rotation angle sensor value, observe the following to stabilize sensor voltage:

- The vehicle is brought to the workshop for repair due to an accident or a collision.
- Zero point calibration and sensitivity check procedures.
HINT:
Make sure that zero point calibration has finished normally, and then perform the sensitivity check.
- Check that all of the following conditions are met:
- The vehicle is parked on a level surface.
- No objects are placed on the front passenger seat.
- The front passenger seat belt buckle switch is OFF.

- Confirm that the beginning sensor reading within standard value.
Standard value:
-3.2 to 3.2 kg (-7 to 7 lb)
- Place a 30 kg (66.14 lb) weight (eg. a 30 kg (66.14 lb) of lead mass) onto the front passenger seat.
- Confirm that the sensitivity is within the standard value.
Standard value:
27 to 33 kg (59.52 to 72.75 lb)
HINT:
- When performing the sensitivity check, use a solid metal weight (the check result may not appear properly if the weight made from liquid is used).
- If the sensitivity deviates from the specified range, retighten the bolts of the front passenger seat without deforming the seat rail. After performing this procedure, if the sensitivity is not within the specified range, replace the front seat assembly RH.
- DESCRIPTION OF CODE REGISTRATION (ENGINE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM)
HINT:
- ID codes are the same as recognition codes for the wireless transmitter and the engine immobiliser function. Registering an ID code enables the smart key system, the wireless door lock control function and the engine immobiliser function to be operated.
- Code registration is needed when the certification ECU, ID code box, steering lock ECU or key is replaced with a new one.
- PROCEDURE "1"
The vehicle with the smart key system does not have a key slot. Therefore, hold the key close to the power switch to register the key, as shown in the illustration below.

ECU communication ID registration
NOTE:- The ECU communication ID should be registered when the ID code box and/or the hybrid vehicle control ECU is replaced in order to match these ECU communication ID.
- The engine cannot be started unless the ECU communication ID matches.
- After the registration, pressing the power switch may not start the hybrid control system on the first try. If so, press the power switch again.
- After the hybrid control system is started, erase DTC B2799-542, 790 (code for hybrid vehicle control ECU's immobiliser communication error).
Register the ECU communication ID.
- Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.
SST 09843-18040
- Turn the power switch on (IG) and leave it for 30 minutes.
HINT:
Do not start the engine.
- Turn the power switch off and disconnect terminals TC and CG.
- Check that the hybrid control system.
OK: Hybrid control system starts and stays on for more than 3 seconds.
HINT:
Using an already registered key, turn the power switch on (IG) with the brake pedal depressed.
- PROCEDURE "A"
- INITIALIZE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF SYSTEM) NOTE: When replacing the sliding roof drive gear, the sliding roof drive gear requires initialization. If a reset is not executed, the following functions do not operate: auto operation and key off operation.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Make sure that the sliding roof is fully closed.
- Push and hold the CLOSE switch or the UP switch until the following movement finishes: Tilt up → approximately 1 second → tilt down → slide open → slide closed.
- Check that the sliding roof stops at the fully closed position.
- Finish the initialization.
- Check that the AUTO operation works normally.NOTE: If the following conditions occur during initialization procedure, initialization will fail:
- Power switch is turned off.
- Sliding roof control switch is released while sliding roof is operating.
- Vehicle speed is 5 km/h (3 mph) or more.
- Communication is cut off.
- Another switch is turned on during initialization.
- The vehicle experiences a strong vibration during initialization, such as the slamming of a door.
HINT:
- If the sliding roof cannot be fully closed or its position has become misaligned, perform initialization again.
- If the roof glass stops moving or starts moving in the opposite direction while the CLOSE or UP switch is held down, continue to hold the switch for another 10 seconds or more to return the sliding roof control ECU to an uninitialized condition. Then perform the initialization procedure again.
- If the AUTO operation function and jam protection function do not operate after the drive gear has been reset, replace the sliding roof drive gear (sliding roof ECU).
