Seat Heater System: Inspection

  1. INSPECT SEAT HEATER SWITCH CONTINUITY

    SEAT HEATER SWITCH CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS

    Switch position Tester connection Specified condition
    HI 3 - 4, 5 - 6 Continuity
    OFF - No continuity
    LO 4 - 5 Continuity
    Illumination circuit 1 - 2 Continuity

    If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

  2. INSPECT SEAT HEATER INDICATOR LIGHT OPERATION 
    1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 6 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 4.
    2. Push the seat heater switch Right or Left side and check that the indicator light lights up.

    If operation is not as specified, replace the switch and inspect the circuits connected to other parts.

  3. INSPECT SEAT HEATER ASSEMBLY (SEAT CUSHION) CONTINUITY 

    Inspect the seat heater assembly between terminals, as shown.

    SEAT HEATER ASSEMBLY (SEAT CUSHION) CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1 - 4 Constant Continuity
    2 - 3 Constant Continuity

    If continuity is not as specified, replace the seat heater assembly.

  4. INSPECT SEAT HEATER ASSY (SEAT BACK) CONTINUITY 

    Inspect the seat heater assembly between terminals, as shown.

    SEAT HEATER ASSY TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1 - 2 - 3 Constant Continuity

    If continuity is not as specified, replace the seat heater assembly.

  5. INSPECT SEAT HEATER ASSY (SEAT CUSHION) OPERATION 
    1. Heat the thermostat with a light.
    2. Connect the seat cushion and seat back connector.
    3. Inspect the seat heater assembly continuity between terminals, as shown.

    SEAT HEATER ASSY TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1 <--> 4, 2 <--> 3 25-35°C (77-95°F) Continuity
    1 <--> 4 35-45°C (95-113°F) Continuity
    2 <--> 3 35-45°C (95-113°F) No continuity

    If continuity is not as specified, replace the seat heater assembly.

  6. INSPECT SEAT HEATER ASSY (SEAT BACK) OPERATION 
    1. Heat the thermostat with a light.

    2. Connect the seat cushion and seat back connector.
    3. Inspect the seat heater assembly continuity between terminals, as shown.

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1 - 2 - 3 25-35°C (77-95°F) Continuity
    1 - 2 35-45°C (95-113°F) Continuity
    1 - 3, 2 - 3 35-45°C (95-113°F) No continuity
