Cruise Control Switch

  1. Cruise control switch is located behind steering wheel on the steering column and is part of the combination switch assembly. Remove steering column covers (and lower cover knee bolster, if necessary). Disconnect cruise control switch Black 6-pin connector. See Fig 1.

  2. Check for continuity between cruise control switch terminals No. 2 and 3. With CRUISE ON-OFF switch off, continuity should not exist. With CRUISE ON-OFF switch on, continuity should exist. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace cruise control switch.
  3. Measure resistance between cruise control switch terminals No. 2 and 3, with cruise control switch stalk lever in appropriate position. See TESTING CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH  table. If all resistance readings are as specified, cruise control switch is okay. If any resistance reading is not as specified, replace cruise control switch and stalk lever assembly.
