"Set/Coast" Switch Circuit

  1. Turn ignition OFF. Disconnect electrical connector from control switch, (SET/COAST and RESUME/ACCEL switch). Check for continuity between harness connector terminal 16 of connector and body ground. See Fig 1.
  2. If no continuity is present, check for open between terminal 16 and body ground. Check for faulty ground connection. If continuity is present, go to next step.
  3. With control switch connector still disconnected, check continuity of control switch in "SET/COAST" position. There should be continuity between control switch terminals 5 and 16. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity is not as specified, replace control switch. If continuity is as specified, go to next step.
  4. Reconnect control switch connector. Disconnect cruise control computer connector. Turn "SET/COAST" switch ON, and check for continuity between computer connector terminal 5 and body ground. See Figure. If no continuity is present, repair open or short in White/Red wire between control switch and computer. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity is present, replace cruise control computer.
