Clutch Assembly: Inspection

  1. Check disc runout by mounting disc on Clutch Disc Guide (499747000 for Loyale 2WD; 499745000 for Justy; or 499747100 for Legacy 2WD/4WD and Loyale 4WD). Mount dial indicator with plunger against disc face.
  2. Measure runout 3.7" (95 mm) from hub center for Loyale 2WD; 6.7" (170 mm) for Justy; and 4.2" (107 mm) for Legacy 2WD/4WD and Loyale 4WD. On all models, maximum runout is .03" (.7 mm) or less. Check clutch disc for wear. Minimum height of lining above rivet heads is .012" (.3 mm).
  3. Check clutch release bearing for damage or rough rotation. Replace if defective. Inspect pressure plate and flywheel. Light roughness may be dressed with fine emery cloth. If surfaces are deeply scored, replace defective parts.
