Manual Transaxle Assembly: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET  (See REMOVAL )
  3. SEPARATE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS 
  5. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER 
  6. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER 
  7. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH 
  8. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH 
  9. DRAIN TRANSAXLE OIL 
    1. Remove the filler plug and the gasket.
    2. Remove the drain plug and gasket, and then drain the manual transaxle oil.
    3. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

      Torque: 39 N*m (400 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf) 

  10. REMOVE HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  11. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  12. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  13. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL )
  14. REMOVE HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH  (See REMOVAL )
  16. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  17. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK  (See REMOVAL )
  18. REMOVE COWL TOP PANEL OUTER  (See REMOVAL )
  19. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  20. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  21. REMOVE BATTERY CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  22. REMOVE BATTERY INSULATOR 
  23. REMOVE BATTERY 
  24. REMOVE BATTERY TRAY 
  25. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and the battery carrier.

  26. REMOVE CLUTCH ACCUMULATOR ASSEMBLY 

    (See REMOVAL )

  27. REMOVE CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY 

    (See REMOVAL )

  28. DISCONNECT ACCUMULATOR TO FLEXIBLE HOSE TUBE 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the flexible hose tube.

  29. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 clips and the 2 washers, and disconnect the 2 cables from the transaxle.
    2. Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 cables from the control cable bracket.

    3. Remove the bolt and disconnect the control cable bracket.

  30. REMOVE CONTROL CABLE BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and the control cable bracket.

  31. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS 
  32. DISCONNECT CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the back-up light switch connector.
  33. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  34. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB NUT LH  (See REMOVAL )
  35. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB NUT RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  36. SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH  (See REMOVAL )
  37. SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  38. SEPARATE FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  39. SEPARATE FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  40. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  41. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  42. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  43. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  44. SEPARATE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  45. SEPARATE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  46. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  47. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL )
  48. SUSPEND ENGINE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the 2 hangers in the correct direction.
    2. Attach the engine chain hoist to the hangers.
      CAUTION: Do not attempt to hang the engine by hooking the chain to any other part.

      Torque: 38 N*m (387 kgf*cm, 28 ft.*lbf) 

  49. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REINFORCEMENT LH  (See REMOVAL )
  50. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REINFORCEMENT RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  51. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE LH  (See REMOVAL )
  52. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  53. SEPARATE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the bolt and nut.

  54. REMOVE FRONT CROSS MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and the front cross member.

  55. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  56. SEPARATE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the bolt and nut, and separate the rear engine mounting insulator.

  57. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and the front engine mounting bracket.

  58. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and the rear engine mounting bracket.

  59. SUPPORT MANUAL TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 
  60. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR LH 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts.
    2. Remove the bolt and nut and separate the engine mounting insulator LH.

  61. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and the engine mounting bracket LH.

  62. REMOVE MANUAL TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 10 bolts and the manual transaxle.
