Shift Control Cables: Removal
- Apply the parking brake.
- Shift the transaxle to Neutral.
- Remove the console. See FRONT FLOOR CONSOLE

- Lift up the cable retainers. See Fig 1
.
- Disconnect cable ends from the shift control assembly, noting the location for assembly.
- Disconnect the cable ends from the transaxle shift levers, noting the location for assembly. See Figure
.
- Remove the shift cable from the transaxle cable bracket.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the shift cable attachment nut from the underbody.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the left instrument panel closeout panel. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Position the driver's side front carpet aside.
- Separate the grommet (1) from the floor pan. See Figure
.
- Remove the cable from the vehicle by pulling the cables through the drivers floor opening.
