Park/Neutral Position Switch Installation

Tools Required 

J 45404  Transmission Indicator Alignment Tool

1. Install the park/neutral position switch (75) to the manual shift detent lever assembly.
2. Install the park/neutral position switch stud (76), bolt (79), and flat washers (69) and hand tighten until tight enough to hold the park/neutral position switch in place, but still loose enough to allow adjustment by hand.

3. Install the park/neutral position switch flat washer (74), lock tab washer (77), and nut (78).

   Tighten 

   Tighten the park/neutral position switch nut to 5.9-7.8 N.m (52.2-69.0 lb in).

4. Move the lock tab into place by bending tabs up with pliers.

5. Place the manual shift detent lever assembly in the Neutral (N) position.
6. Install the J 45404  to the manual shift detent lever assembly, and rotate the park/neutral position switch until the neutral base line on the switch assembly lines up with the indicator line on J 45404  .
7. Tighten the park/neutral position switch stud (76) and the park/neutral position switch bolt/screw (79).

   Tighten 

   Tighten the park/neutral position switch stud and bolt to 19.6-29.4 N.m (174.0-252.0 lb in).

8. Remove J 45404  from the manual shift detent lever assembly.
