Disabling & Activating Air Bag System
WARNING:
Wait 20 minutes after disabling air bag system before servicing steering column. Air bag system voltage is maintained for about 20 minutes after system is disabled. Servicing system before the 20-minute period may cause accidental air bag deployment and possible personal injury.
To disable air bag system, turn ignition off. Disconnect and shield negative battery cable. To activate air bag system, reconnect negative battery cable. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Observe AIR BAG indicator light.
