Gearshift Lever

  1. Place gearshift lever in 1st gear, push to left stop and release. Lever must spring back 1/4-3/8" to right. Place lever in 5th gear position, push shift lever to right stop and release. Lever must spring back 1/4-3/8" to left. Lever must spring back approximately same distance in both directions.
  2. If gearshift lever does not spring back as indicated, loosen gearshift lever housing (stop plate) bolts and move housing slightly sideways in slots. If this adjustment does not correct hard shifting, adjust linkage. See GEARSHIFT LINKAGE  .
