Crankcase Lower Section: Notes

Lower crankcase section is bolted to upper section and uses Loctite (573) on mating surfaces. See Fig 1. Bores supplying oil to crankshaft and camshafts are cast into mating surface of crankcase lower section. These oil bores cross the stud holes. Consequently, when engine is running, there is oil pressure along the studs. Whenever crankcase lower section is removed and installed, new mounting nuts (with microsealed adhesive in the threads) must be installed.

NOTE: Use new crankcase sealing nuts for crankcase assembly to avoid oil seepage and possible oil pressure loss. Sealing nuts may only be used once.
