Overhaul - Automatic Transmission: Description

The 4-speed automatic transaxle assembly consists of a hydrodynamic torque converter, Ravigneaux planet gear set, 4 forward gears and 1 reverse gear as well as a flanged final drive.

The automatic transmission is an A28.01 fully automatic 4-speed, planetary gear type and consists of 2 planetary gear sets, 4 brake band sets, 3 multiple-disc clutches, front and rear hydraulic fluid pump, valve body and input and output shafts.

Torque converter is located on front of transmission and is housed in a 2 piece bell housing. Final drive is attached to rear of transmission case and contains a ring and pinion gear, side gears and pinion gears. The operation of final drive is the same as conventional differentials.
