Brake Release Switch/Valve
These components, mounted on brake pedal bracket, disengage system when the brake pedal is depressed. See Fig 1 . Switch and vacuum valve are combined, and may incorporate brakelight and torque converter clutch switch.
When pedal is depressed, switch interrupts electrical current to cruise control module, which then disengages the system. Vacuum valve vents servo assembly diaphragm to atmosphere when pedal is depressed, causing throttle to immediately return to closed position.
