Section 10 (HVAC System - Automatic): Operation: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and 1996 Buick Regal. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Dual zone A/C system is a vacuum and electronically controlled heating, ventilating and air conditioning system. Both electronic and vacuum circuits determine air intake and discharge locations. Electronic circuits also control mode, A/C compressor clutch operation, fan operation and discharge air temperature.

Driver can select a desired interior temperature, fan speed and one of 8 different modes of operation from system control panel. One mode is a fully automatic dual zone mode. The passenger, through a separate passenger side temperature control panel, is able to increase or decrease air discharge temperature on that side of vehicle. Displayed set temperature will not react to passenger control.
