Displaying Trouble Codes

  1. Electronic Control Module (ECM), Body Control Module (BCM) and Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) trouble codes display automatically after system enters self-diagnostics. ECM trouble codes are displayed first, followed by BCM trouble codes and finally SIR trouble codes.
  2. All trouble codes appear in ascending 3-digit order. ECM codes are prefixed with "E", BCM Codes with "B" and SIR codes with "R". SIR codes do not pertain to charging system.
  3. All trouble codes are followed by "C" or "H". "C" stands for current, and indicates a fault presently exists. "H" stands for history, and indicates system malfunction was not present last time code was accessed.
  4. For example, Code E016H is ECM trouble Code number 016, set in response to a past malfunction. Code B410C is BCM trouble Code number 410, set in response to a current malfunction.
  5. If no ECM or BCM trouble codes are stored in memory, NO X CODE is displayed. Should communication link between a component and ECM or BCM fail, NO X DATA is displayed.
NOTE: After all trouble codes have been displayed, trouble code display can repeat. To repeat trouble code display, press OFF button on ECC of non-CRT equipped vehicles or LEVL key on CRT control panel of CRT equipped vehicles.
