Axle Hub Assembly: Installation
- Install backing plate. See Figure .
- Install wheel hub assembly.
- Reconnect axle shaft to hub assembly.
- Reconnect parking brake cable. See PARKING BRAKE CABLE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in DISC - EVOLUTION article under BRAKES.
- Install clip. See Figure .
- Install parking brake shoe and lining assembly. See PARKING BRAKE SHOES under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in DISC - EVOLUTION article under BRAKES.
- Install brake disc. See REAR BRAKE ROTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in DISC - EVOLUTION article under BRAKES.
- Install caliper assembly. See REAR BRAKE CALIPER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in DISC - EVOLUTION article under BRAKES.
- Reconnect rear ABS sensor. See Figure .
- Install the axle shaft washer as shown. See Fig 1 . Using End Yoke Holder (MB990767), tighten the axle shaft nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the split pin. See Figure .
- Tighten all bolts and nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Adjust brake lever stroke adjustment. See PARKING BRAKE LEVER STROKE under ADJUSTMENTS in DISC - EVOLUTION article under BRAKES.
CAUTION:
Before securely tightening the axle shaft nuts, make sure there is no load on the wheel bearings. Otherwise, the wheel bearings will be damaged.
