Front Door Glass Inclination

  1. Insert a feeler gauge .02 in. (0.5 mm) between the center pillar garnish and front door weatherstrip holder of the center pillar upper part (cross section C-C). See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .

  2. CAUTION: The rear door must be closed when the adjustment is being made.

  3. With the front door glass completely closed, slowly close the door and when the glass surface contacts the feeler gauge, measure the level difference of the front door's outer panel and the rear door's outer panel in order to check to be sure that it is the standard value. Standard value is approximately 0.8 in. (20 mm). See Fig 2 . This check can be used as an easy way to determine whether or not the amount of inclination of the glass in the outward/inward direction is correct. If the amount of the inclination is excessive, the level difference will be large; if it is insufficient, the level difference will be small.
  4. CAUTION: If excessive force is applied when inner stabilizers are pressed against glass, required operation force of the front door window regulator will become excessive, and the adjustment of the amount of inclination of the glass will become difficult.
    CAUTION: If the inner stabilizers do not contact the glass, a rattling sound will occur when the front door glass is open; for that reason, be sure to make a readjustment when the amount of inclination of the glass is adjusted.

  5. If the measured value differs from the standard value, adjust as follows. Loosen inner stabilizer installation bolts and gently press the inner stabilizers against the glass. Retighten the installation bolts. See Fig 3 . Turning the adjustment bolts to the left increases the amount of inclination, and turning them to the right decreases the amount. See Fig 4 .
  6. Adjust glass inclination amount by loosening the locking nuts of the adjustment bolts, at the upper part of the front and rear front door glass guide tracks. Turn the adjustment bolts to make the adjustment. See Fig 4 .
  7. CAUTION: The adjustment bolts for the front and rear tracks must be turned by the same amount each. If the turning amounts are different, the tracks will tilt, causing an increase in the required operation force of the front door window regulator, and also making the adjustment of the glass "fit" difficult.
  8. It is difficult to check and adjust the amount of inclination of the glass while the drip-line weatherstrip at attached (because of the reaction force of the weatherstrip). If there is a problem such as rain leaking in at the door glass, or objectionable noise caused by suction at the glass at high speed, remove the drip-line weatherstrip and use the Alignment Gauge Block (MB991134) to make the adjustment. See Figure .
