Oil Pressure Sending Unit Test

  1. With ignition in OFF position, locate and disconnect oil pressure sending unit connector in oil filter adapter.
  2. Measure resistance between pressure sensor terminal and ground. Resistance with engine off should be less than 5 ohms. Resistance with engine running should be greater than 10 k/ohms. If resistances not are correct, replace oil pressure sensor. If resistances are correct, go to next step.
  3. With ignition in OFF position, disconnect instrument cluster connector C3. See Figure -Figure .
  4. Measure resistance of Red wire between instrument cluster connector C3, terminal No. 9 and oil pressure sender connector.
  5. Measure resistance of Red wire between instrument cluster connector C3, terminal No. 9 and ground.
  6. If resistance is less than 5 ohms between instrument cluster and oil pressure sensor, and greater than 10 k/ohms between instrument cluster and ground, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If noted resistances are not as shown, service Red wire.
