Steering Switch Removal/Installation

WARNING:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more  . (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
  2. Remove the following parts:
    1. Driver-side air bag module (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .) (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM] .)     2. Steering wheel (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Steering shift switch (with shift switch) (See STEERING SHIFT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SJ6A-EL] .)
    4. Steering wheel cover (See STEERING WHEEL COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. Steering wheel bezel (See STEERING WHEEL BEZEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. Pull out the wiring harness clips.

  4. Warm up the steering switch tab joints shown in the figure with a heat gun.

    NOTE:
    • By warming up and softening the hard plastic area of the steering wheel using a heat gun, the steering switch tabs can be easily removed.
  5. Pull the steering switch in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure, then detach the steering switch tabs from the steering wheel and remove the steering switch.

  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
