Cable And Bracket-Shift, Column: Removal

  1. From under the instrument panel, remove the shift cable from the steering column.
  2. Remove the cable plastic terminal from the shift control selector lever pivot ball by prying with a screwdriver between the cable plastic terminal and the lever.
  3. Remove the shift cable from the retaining bracket by carefully lifting on the locking tab while pulling up on the shift actuator cable fitting.
  4. From the engine compartment, pry the cable grommet from the dash panel.
  5. Remove the nut holding the cable to the manual control lever.
  6. Remove the shift cable from the transmission shift cable bracket on the transaxle by carefully lifting on the locking tab while pulling up on the shift actuator cable fitting.
  7. From the engine compartment, pull the cable through the dash panel opening.
