Test G: Speed Dependent Interval Mode Does Not Operate Properly
NOTE:
After repair, repeat Front Electronic Module (FEM) self-test and clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC).
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect NGS tester. Observe FEM PID WPMODE while turning intermittent washer switch through all positions. If FEM PID WPMODE values do not agree with switch positions and vehicle is equipped with moisture sensitive wipers, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with moisture sensitive wipers, go to step 3 . If FEM PID WPMODE values agree with switch positions, go to step 7 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 6-pin rain sensor module harness connector C914. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe FEM PID WPMODE while turning intermittent washer switch through all positions. If FEM PID WPMODE values do not agree with switch positions, go to next step. If FEM PID WPMODE values agree with switch positions, replace rain sensor module. See RAIN SENSOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 12-pin multifunction switch harness connector C202. Test wiper/washer portion of multifunction switch. See MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace multifunction switch. See MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Check voltage between multifunction switch harness connector C202 terminal No. 3 (Blue/White wire) and ground. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 6 .
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 20-pin FEM harness connector C201f. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Check voltage between multifunction switch harness connector C202 terminal No. 3 (Blue/White wire) and ground. If battery voltage exists, repair short to power on circuit between multifunction switch harness connector C202 and FEM connector C201f terminal No. 13. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If battery voltage does not exist, replace FEM. See FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE (FEM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 20-pin FEM harness connector C201f. Check resistance of circuit between multifunction switch harness connector C202 terminal No. 3 and FEM harness connector C201f terminal No. 13. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace FEM. See FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE (FEM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in circuit between FEM and multifunction switch.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Trigger active command WIPER RLY ON and OFF while monitoring FEM PID WPPRKSW. If PID does not change from PARKED to NOT PARK, go to next step. If PID changes from PARKED to NOT PARK, replace FEM. See FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE (FEM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Remove wiper run/park relay from AJB. Test wiper run/park relay. See WIPER & WASHER RELAYS under COMPONENT TESTS. If relay is okay, go to next step. If a relay is faulty, replace relay.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect 5-pin wiper motor harness connector C125. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a fused jumper wire between wiper motor harness connector C125 terminals No. 4 (Yellow/Blue wire) and No. 5 (Black/Yellow wire) while monitoring FEM PID WPPRKSW. See Figure . If PID does not change from PARKED to NOT PARK, go to next step. If PID changes from PARKED to NOT PARK, replace wiper motor. See FRONT WIPER MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check resistance between wiper run/park relay cavity terminal No. 4 and wiper motor harness connector C125 terminal No. 5 (Black/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open on circuit between relay and wiper motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Check resistance between wiper run/park relay cavity terminal No. 4 and FEM harness connector C201b terminal No. 13 (Black/Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace FEM. See FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE (FEM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open on circuit between relay and FEM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
