Pinpoint Test H - Delayed Accessory Feature Inoperative (Windshield Wipers)

  1. Remove and inspect fuse No. 6 (15-amp) and fuse No. 15 (10-amp) in instrument panel fuse block. Replace fuse(s) as necessary. If fuses are okay, go to next step.
  2. Inspect IGN SW fuses in engine compartment distribution center. Replace fuse(s) as necessary. If fuses are okay, go to next step.
  3. Gain access to ignition switch connector. Connect a DVOM between ground and terminal I1 (Red/Light Green) wire. Observe DVOM and turn ignition on and then to start. If both readings indicate battery voltage, go to next step. If any reading does not indicate battery voltage, check ignition switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
  4. Gain access to delayed accessory module. Module is located behind right side of instrument panel. Measure voltage between ground and Yellow wire at delayed accessory module connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open circuit in Yellow wire.
  5. Measure voltage between ground and Red/Light Green wire at delayed accessory module connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Red/Light Green wire.
  6. Measure resistance between ground and Black wire at delayed accessory module connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire.
  7. Ensure driver's door is closed and interior light is not turned on by headlight time delay switch. Measure voltage between ground and Dark Blue/Orange wire at delayed accessory module connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, go to step 9).
  8. Turn ignition off. Measure voltage between ground and Black/Light Green wire at delayed accessory module connector. If battery voltage is present, perform PINPOINT TEST B  . If battery voltage is not present, replace delayed accessory module.
  9. Disconnect delayed accessory module connector. Disconnect driver's door courtesy light switch connector. Disconnect autolamp switch/pulse width dimming module connector. Module is located top left side of instrument panel. Connect one lead of DVOM to Dark Blue/Orange wire at delayed accessory module connector. Touch remaining lead of DVOM to Dark Blue/Orange wire at driver's door courtesy light switch connector and then to Dark Blue/Orange wire at autolamp switch/pulse width dimming module connector. If both readings indicate continuity, go to next step. If one or both readings do not indicate continuity, repair open in Dark Blue/Orange wire as necessary.
  10. Measure resistance between ground and Dark Blue/Orange wire at delayed accessory module connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/Orange wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  11. Measure voltage between ground and Orange wire at driver's door courtesy light switch connector. If battery voltage is present, replace driver's door courtesy light switch. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
  12. Remove fuse No. 6 (15-amp) from instrument panel fuse block. Measure resistance between ground and Orange wire at autolamp switch/pulse width dimming module connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange wire. Repair open circuit in Orange wire and retest.
