Description & Operation
The power window switches are located on the door armrests. The master control switch is located on the driver's door armrest and can be used to activate any or all of the power windows from one location. See Fig 1 .
A single power window switch is located on all door armrests except the driver's door. This switch allows activation of the power window for the individual doors only. See Fig 2 .
Each Window Switch applies voltage to its Window Motor, causing it to turn in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction to raise or lower the window. The switch sends current through the Window Motor in one direction for UP and in the opposite direction for DOWN. In the neutral position, both motor wires are grounded through separate switch contacts. When the DOWN switch is pushed, voltage is applied to the DOWN motor lead. The UP lead acts as ground. When the UP switch is pushed, voltage is applied to the UP motor lead. The DOWN lead acts as ground. The Power Windows are powered by Fuse K. Each motor assembly has a circuit breaker to cut off power if a switch is held too long in the UP or DN position. The Window Safety Relay allows operation only when the Ignition Switch is in ACC or RUN position.
