Motor Continuity Test

  1. Turn ignition switch "ON". Remove motor park switch connector. See Figure . Check for battery voltage on circuit No. 65. If no voltage is present, repair wire as necessary. If voltage is present, go to next step.
  2. Ensure motor housing is grounded through cup screw and housing ground strap. If ground is okay, go to next step.
  3. Unplug wiper motor. Check continuity between circuits No. 28 and No. 56, in the wiring harness. If no continuity, trace and repair circuit. If continuity is okay, leave motor unplugged and go to next step.
  4. Check for ground between circuit No. 28 on motor and body ground. If open, replace wiper motor. If ground is okay, leave motor disconnected and go to next step.
  5. Ensure there is less than one ohm resistance between circuits No. 61 and No. 62, in the wiring harness. If continuity is okay, go to step 7). If no continuity is present, trace and repair wiring.
  6. If open circuit is traced to interval governor, check wiper switch for continuity between Orange and Black wire terminals on wiper switch. Replace switch if defective. If wiper switch and wiring is okay, replace interval governor.
  7. If continuity between circuits No. 61 and No. 62 in step 5) is okay, leave motor disconnected. Check for continuity between circuit terminals No. 61 and No. 65 on WIPER MOTOR. Replace wiper motor if there is an open circuit.
