Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Start the inspection from step  1 in the case of using the intelligent tester, and start from step  2 in the case of not using the intelligent tester.

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY INTELLIGENT TESTER 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester to DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the intelligent tester main switch ON.
    3. Select the item below in the ACTIVE TEST and then check that the relay operates.

    Body: 

    ACTIVE TEST TABLE

    Turns Interior light and Key illumination ON/OFF
    (Vehicle Condition)
    Interior light SW is in Door position and all doors are closed
    -

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    NG: Go to next step. 

  2. INSPECT ILLUMINATION LIGHT

    1. Inspect the transponder key amplifier (ignition key cylinder light)
      1. Connect the battery positive (+) lead to terminal 2 and the battery negative (-) lead to terminal 6, and check that the indicator light comes on.
    2. Inspect the map light assembly (personal light)

      1. Check continuity between terminals at each switch position as shown in the table.

        Standard resistance 

        TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION TABLE

        Switch operation Tester Connection Specified Condition
        OFF - 10 kΩ or higher
        DOOR 7 (+B) - 2 (DOOR) Below 1 Ω
    3. Inspect the room light assembly No. 1 (interior light)

      1. Check continuity between terminals at each switch position as shown in the table.

        Standard resistance 

        TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION TABLE

        Switch operation Tester Connection Specified Condition
        OFF - 10 kΩ or higher
        DOOR 1 - 2 Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPLACE ILLUMINATION LIGHT 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  3. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY (ILE)

    1. Measure the voltage between terminal ILE of the instrument panel J/B assembly (driver side J/B assembly) and body ground.

      Standard voltage 

      TERMINAL SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Terminal No. (Symbols) Condition Specified Condition
      IA-8, IA-16, IK-9 - Body ground (ILE - Body ground) Interior light SW is in Door position and doors all closed → One of the door opened 10 to 14 V → 0 V

    3. Back side of instrument panel J/B assembly (driver side J/B).

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
