When Not Using Hand-Held Tester:

  1. CHECK FRONT DOOR COURTESY LAMP SWITCH ASSY (DRIVER SIDE) 
    1. Put the dome lamp assy No. 2 switch in the door position and open the driver side door. Then check that the courtesy lamp switch comes on.
    1. OK: Go to step   3 . 
    2. NG: Go to next step. 
  2. INSPECT FRONT DOOR COURTESY LAMP SWITCH ASSY (DRIVER SIDE) 
    1. Remove the courtesy lamp switch.
    2. Check the switch continuity.

      Standard: 

      FRONT DOOR COURTESY LAMP SWITCH ASSY (DRIVER SIDE)

      Terminal No. Condition Specified Condition
      1 <=> Body ground Free Continuity
      1 <=> Body ground Pushed No continuity

    1. NG: REPLACE FRONT DOOR COURTESY LAMP SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY (BODY ECU) <=> COURTESY LAMP SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the B4 J/B connector.
    2. Disconnect the D12 courtesy lamp switch connector.
    3. Check the continuity between the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard: 

      INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY (BODY ECU) <=> COURTESY LAMP SWITCH

      Symbols (Terminal No.) Specified Condition
      DCTY (B4-23) <=> - (D12-1) Continuity

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  4. CHECK BUZZER (COMBINATION METER) (SEE  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ) 
    1. NG: GO TO COMBINATION METER SYSTEM (SEE  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ) 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  5. INSPECT UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Remove the warning switch.
    2. Check the switch continuity.

      Standard: 

      UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSY

      Terminal No. Condition Specified Condition
      1 <=> 2 Free No continuity
      1 <=> 2 Pushed Continuity

    1. NG: REPLACE UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY (BODY ECU) <=> UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSY) (UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH <=> BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the B5 J/B connector.
    2. Disconnect the K3 warning switch connector.
    3. Check the continuity between the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard: 

      INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY (BODY ECU) <=> UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSY

      Symbols (Terminal No.) Specified Condition
      KSW (B5-14) <=> - (K3-2) Continuity
    4. Check the continuity between the K3 warning switch connector and body ground.

      Standard: 

      UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH <=> BODY GROUND

      Terminal No. Specified Condition
      K3-1 <=> Body ground Continuity

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY
