Power Steering Pump: Reassembly

  1. Lubricate all moving parts with power steering fluid. Press shaft and bearing into housing. Install snap ring. Using plastic mallet, tap pins into place. Install power steering cam ring with mark facing outward. Install power steering rotor and vane plates. Install front side plate and rear side plates.
  2. Install cooling fan cam ring with mark facing outward. Install cooling fan rotor and vane plates. Install rear side plate and wave washer. Install rear housing.
  3. Measure rotating torque. Rotating torque should not exceed 2.7 INCH lbs. (0.3 N.m). Pump should rotate freely with no abnormal noise. Install cooling fan flow control valve. Install power steering flow control valve. Install fittings. Install control valve. Install pulley.
