Diagnostic Chart

  1. Check instrument panel. See INSTRUMENT PANEL article. If instrument panel is not okay, repair or replace combination meter. If meter is okay, go to next step.
  2. Check harness and connector between ABS & TRAC ECU and battery. Repair or replace any faulty connectors or harnesses. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
  3. Check voltage between terminal CSW of ABS & TRAC ECU connector and body ground. Remove ABS & TRAC ECU with connectors still connected. Turn ignition switch on. Measure voltage between terminal CSW of ABS & TRAC ECU and body ground when TRAC cut switch is on and off. When TRAC cut switch is ON, no voltage should be present. When TRAC cut switch is OFF, battery voltage should be present. If voltage is okay, proceed to next circuit inspection as shown in SYMPTOMS . If voltage is not okay, go to next step.
  4. Check TRAC cut switch. Remove TRAC cut switch. Disconnect TRAC cut switch connector. Measure resistance between terminals 3 and 4 of TRAC cut switch connector when TRAC cut switch is on and off. When TRAC cut switch is ON, there should be continuity. When TRAC cut switch is OFF, there should be no continuity. If switch is not okay, replace. If switch is okay, go to next step.
  5. Check harness and connector between ABS & TRAC ECU and TRAC cut switch, TRAC cut switch and body ground. Repair or replace any faulty connectors or harnesses. If connectors are okay, check and replace ABS & TRAC ECU.
