Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
NOTE:
For cruise control information not covered in this article, see appropriate BODY ELECTRICAL CONTROL MODULE SYSTEMS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
Cruise control is a electro-mechanical system which includes the following components: Cruise control Electronic Control Unit (ECU), engagement (on/off) switch, SET/ACCEL switch, RESUME/DECEL switch, brake pedal switch, clutch pedal switch (M/T), vehicle speed sensor (Discovery), body electrical control module (Range Rover), vacuum pump, actuator, neutral lock-out relay (A/T), and engine speed trip ECU (Discovery M/T). Range Rover is equipped with a cruise control inverter module which transmits a signal to cruise control ECU to activate vacuum pump.
