Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. Position the steering gear to the frame rail with the bolt holes aligned.
  2. Install the four steering gear bolts and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to GEAR, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
    NOTE:

    The two long bolts go to the front and the two shorter bolts go to the rear.

  3. Connect the pitman arm to the steering gear. Refer to ARM, PITMAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.

  5. Using a new  intermediate shaft coupler pinch bolt connect the intermediate shaft to the steering gear. Refer to SHAFT, INTERMEDIATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Install the two power steering lines (2) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to GEAR, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Install the air cleaner body. Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  8. Fill the power steering system to the proper level. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  9. Perform the WHEEL ALIGNMENT procedure. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT .
