Section 17 (Clutch System): Flywheel: Installation: Installation

  1. Clean the surfaces of the flywheel and pressure plate.
    NOTE:

    When installing tone wheel, be sure the XXXXXXX printing on the tone wheel is facing outward

  2. If vehicle is equipped with start-stop feature, install tone wheel on crankshaft.
  3. On Diesel engine, Install flywheel with new  bolts and tighten in a criss-cross pattern. Tighten bolts to 50 N.m (37 ft. lbs.).
  4. Using a torque wrench fitted with a Torque Angle Gauge, (Goniometer), loosen one flywheel bolt at a time and tighten to 25 N.m (19 ft. lbs.) plus angle in relation to bolt length.
    Bolt Length Torque Angle
    40 mm 60°
    50 mm 75°
    60 mm 90°
  5. On Gas engine, Install flywheel with new  bolts and tighten in a criss-cross pattern. Tighten bolts to 90 N.m (67 ft. lbs.).
  6. Install clutch disc and pressure plate.
  7. Install transmission.
