Heated Seat Element Test

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect suspect heated seat cushion 4-pin harness connector. Disconnect suspect heated seat back 2-pin harness connector. On driver's side, check continuity of Brown/Black wire between terminal "B" at heated seat cushion harness connector and terminal "A" at heated seat back harness connector. On passenger's side, check continuity of Brown wire between terminal "B" at heated seat cushion harness connector and terminal "A" at heated seat back harness connector. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . If continuity exists at all terminals, go to next step. If continuity does not exist at any terminal, replace suspect heated seat cushion or seat backcover. See HEATED SEAT BACK COVER  or HEATED SEAT CUSHION  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Check continuity between seat frame and terminal "B" at heated seat cushion harness connector. Check continuity between seat frame and terminal "A" at heated seat back harness connector. If continuity does not exist at all terminals, go to next step. If continuity exists at any terminal, replace heated seat cushion or seat back.
  3. Disconnect Seat Heat Interface Module (SHIM) harness connector. Check Pink/Black wire for opens or shorts between terminal No. 3 at SHIM harness connector and terminal "A" at passenger's heated seat cushion harness connector. Check Black/Orange wire for opens or shorts between terminal No. 5 at SHIM harness connector and terminal "A" at driver's heated seat cushion harness connector. See Fig 1 and Fig 3 . If all circuits test okay, go to next step. If any circuit does not test okay, repair open or short in Pink/Black wire or Black/Orange wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  4. Check continuity between ground and Black wire terminal at suspect heated seat back or cushion harness connector. If continuity exists, repair heated seat sensor concern. Perform HEATED SEAT SENSOR TEST . If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between suspect heated seat back or cushion and ground point. Ground point is located under passenger's front seat, for both seats.
