ICC Sensor Evaluates The Following Input

Operating Condition for Engine/Drivetrain:

The ECM sends the signal "engine running" or "drivetrain operational" via the CAN communication to the ICC sensor.

The ICC Is Switched On Over The Cruise Control Lever:

The steering column tube module control unit directly reads the switch position of the cruise control lever and transmits these via the CAN communication to the ICC sensor.

Parking Brake Status:

The status of the parking brake (activated or deactivated) is sent by the electric parking brake control unit via the CAN communication to the ICC sensor.

Engaged Gear Range/Stage

The fully integrated transmission control unit transmits information about the engaged gear range and about the stage via the ECM and CAN communication to the ICC sensor.

Driver Request via The Cruise Control Lever:

The steering column tube module control unit directly reads in the switch position of the cruise control lever and transmits these via the CAN communication to the ICC sensor.

Vehicle Speed/Acceleration:

The vehicle speed is calculated from the wheel speed. The acceleration is defined over the increase in rotational speed. The electronic stability program control unit sends the wheel speed signals via the CAN communication to the ICC sensor.

Object Recognition:

The ICC sensor monitors the traffic area in front of the vehicle up to a distance of 200 m (656.2 ft) in a corridor of 12.

Engine Drive Torque:

The ECM sends information about the currently available engine torque via the CAN communication to the ICC sensor.

Braking Torque:

The Electronic Stability Program control unit sends information about the currently applied braking torque via the CAN communication to the ICC sensor.

Acceleration/Yaw Rate:

The acceleration/yaw rate is detected from the body acceleration sensor which is integrated in the electronic stability program control unit. The electronic stability program control unit sends this information via the CAN communication to the ICC sensor.

NOTE: On safety and comfort grounds the maximum (positive) acceleration of the automatic distance control is limited to about 2.5 m/s. It operates anti proportional to the vehicle speed, which means that the positive and negative accelerations reduce with increasing speed.

Steering Wheel Angle:

The steering wheel angle sensor detects/records the steering wheel angle. The steering column tube module control unit directly reads in the signals of the steering wheel angle sensor and sends information about the steering wheel angle via the CAN communication to the ICC sensor.

Driver Request To Overtake (Sets The Turn Signals On The Combination Switch):

The steering column tube module control unit directly reads in the switch position of the combination switch and transmits these via the CAN communication to the ICC sensor.

Brake Pedal Position:

The Electronic Stability Program control unit sends the status of the brake pedal via the CAN communication to the ICC sensor.

Accelerator Pedal Position:

The ECM sends information about the accelerator pedal position via the CAN communication to the ICC sensor.
