Component Inspection

  1. Ignition "OFF".
  2. Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF".
  3. Connect GDS and select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)"  mode.
  4. Using a GDS, Clear DTC.
  5. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)"  mode again.
  6. Are any DTCs present?

    YES 

    • Substitute with a known-good steering column & EPS ECU assembly and check for proper operation.
    • If problem is corrected, replace steering column & EPS ECU assembly and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.

    NO 

    • Fault is intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness or it has been repaired and EPS ECU memory is not cleared yet.
    • Go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
