Repair procedures: Replacement

  1. Loosen the wheel nuts slightly.

    Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.

  2. Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from front hub.

    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage to the hub bolts when removing the front wheel and tire.
  3. Remove the brake caliper mounting bolts, and then hold the brake caliper assembly (A) with wire.

    Tightening torque: 

    80 ~ 100 Nm (8.0 ~ 10.0 kgf.m, 57.8 ~ 72.3 lb-ft)

  4. Loosen the brake disc mount screw then remove the brake disc(A).

    Tightening torque: 

    4.9 ~ 5.8 Nm (0.5 ~ 0.6 kgf.m, 3.6 ~ 4.3 lb-ft)

  5. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor(A) from knuckle.

  6. Remove the tie rod end ball joint from the knuckle.
    1. Remove the split pin (A).
    2. Remove the castle nut (B).
    3. Disconnect the ball joint (D) from knuckle(C) using the special tool (09568-4A000).

    Tightening torque: 

    85 ~ 110 Nm (8.5 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 61.4 ~ 79.5 lb-ft)

    CAUTION: Apply a few drops of oil to the special tool. (Boot contact part)
  7. Loosen the tension arm mount nut (A), and then remove the tension arm(B).
    1. Remove the split pin (C).
    2. Remove the castle nut (D).
    3. Disconnect the tension arm (B) from knuckle (A) using the special tool. (09568-4A000)

    Tightening torque: 

    137.3 ~ 156.9 Nm (14.0 ~ 16.0 kgf.m, 101.2 ~ 115.7 lb-ft)

    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the boot and rotor teeth.
  8. Loosen the lateral mount nut.
    1. Remove the split pin (C).
    2. Remove the castle nut (D).
    3. Disconnect the lateral mount (B) from knuckle (A) using the special tool. (09568-4A000)

    Tightening torque: 

    90 ~ 110 Nm (9 ~ 11 kgf.m, 65 ~ 79.5 lb-ft)

  9. Remove the hub and knuckle assembly (C).
    1. Remove the split pin (A).
    2. Remove the castle nut (B).
    3. Disconnect the ball joint from knuckle using the special tool (09568-4A000).

    Tightening torque: 

    35 ~ 45 Nm (3.5 ~ 4.5 kgf.m, 25.3 ~ 32.5 lb-ft)

  10. Remove the hub assembly (B) from knuckle assembly.

    Tightening torque: 

    80 ~ 100 Nm (8.0 ~ 10.0 kgf.m, 57.8 ~ 72.3 lb-ft)

  11. Loosen the dust cover mount bolts and then remove the dust cover (B) from knuckle (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    7 ~ 11 Nm (0.7 ~ 1.1 kgf.m, 5.0 ~ 7.9 lb-ft)

  12. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
