Key Interlock Solenoid Test

- Remove the steering column cover (see COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSRALLATION ).
- Disconnect the steering lock 6P connector (A).
- Insert the ignition key in the key cylinder, then turn the ignition key to ACCESSORY (I).
- Connect power to steering lock 6P connector terminal No. 3, and ground the steering lock 6P connector terminal No. 4. Check that the ignition key cannot be turned to LOCK (0). Disconnect power and check that the key can be turned to the LOCK (0) position and removed from the cylinder.
- If the key interlock solenoid works improperly, faulty key inter lock solenoid; replace the steering lock (see CHECK OF LOCK LEVER FORCE ).
