Actuator Assembly
NOTE:
If replacing actuator solenoid valves, ensure new "O" rings are installed.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect actuator cable from actuator. Unplug actuator 4-pin connector. Go to next step.
- Connect a fused jumper wire between battery voltage and actuator connector terminal No. 4. Connect jumper wires between ground and actuator terminals No. 1, 2 and 3. See Fig 1 . Go to next step.
- Disconnect actuator vacuum line at actuator vacuum check valve. Connect a vacuum pump to actuator vacuum hose. Apply vacuum to actuator. Actuator rod should pull in completely. If actuator rod pulls in completely, go to next step. If actuator rod pulls in partially or not at all, check for leaking vacuum line or defective solenoid. See ACTUATOR SOLENOID . Repair as necessary.
- With jumper wires still connected, and vacuum holding steady, try to pull actuator rod out by hand. If actuator rod cannot be pulled out by hand, go to next step. If actuator rod can be pulled out by hand, actuator is defective. Repair as necessary.
- Disconnect jumper wire from actuator connector terminal No. 3. Actuator rod should return to rest position. If actuator rod returns to rest position, go to next step. If actuator rod does not return to rest position, check vent hose and filter for restriction. If problem exists, repair as necessary. If problem does not exist, replace actuator solenoid valve assembly.
- Repeat steps 2) -4) and disconnect ground from actuator connector terminal No. 1. See Fig 1 . If actuator rod returns to rest position, go to next step. If actuator rod does not return to rest position, replace actuator solenoid valve assembly.
- Remove jumper wires from actuator connector. Disconnect vent hose from actuator. Connect vacuum pump to actuator vent hose port and apply vacuum. If actuator rod pulls in completely, actuator is okay. If actuator rod does not pull in completely, replace actuator.
