Dimmer Switch Circuit
- Turn ignition off. Carefully pry dimmer switch from dashboard. Dash light brightness controller is built into dimmer switch assembly. Disconnect dimmer switch 3-pin connector. Inspect connector and switch terminals for damage or corrosion. Repair or replace as necessary.
- Use DVOM to check for continuity between dimmer switch 3-pin connector Black wire and ground. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open Black wire or poor ground connection (G401). See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- With headlight switch on, use DVOM to check for battery voltage between dimmer switch 3-pin connector Red/Black wire and ground. If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step. If not, replace underdash fuse No. 30 (7.5 amp).
- With headlight switch on, use a jumper wire to ground dimmer switch 3-pin connector Red wire. If dash lights illuminate, dimmer switch circuits are okay, replace dimmer switch. If dash lights do not illuminate, repair open in Red wire.
