Draining & Refilling

CAUTION: Manufacturer recommends flushing oil cooler whenever transmission or transaxle is removed.
  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove necessary lower covers. Remove drain plug from lower area of differential, and drain fluid. Remove oil pan protector, oil pan and gasket. Remove filter screen and gasket.
  2. Install NEW filter screen and gasket. On Storm, tighten filter screen bolts to 53 INCH lbs. (6 N.m.). On Storm GSi, tighten filter screen bolts to 71 INCH lbs. (8 N.m). On all models, install oil pan, NEW gasket and oil pan protector. Tighten oil pan bolts to 71 INCH lbs. (8 N.m), and tighten drain plug to 20 ft. lbs. (27 N.m).
  3. Fill transaxle with Dexron-II, and check fluid level. See CHECKING FLUID LEVEL  .
