Removal Procedure

  1. Before removing the old control module, perform the SPS function Prepare Control Module for Removal, if available. Control Module References
  2. Remove underbody panels as necessary. Underbody Panel Component Locator
  3. Drain the drive motor battery cooling system. Drive Motor Battery Cooling System Draining and Filling
  4. Disable the high voltage system. High Voltage Disabling

    NOTE:

    Disconnecting high voltage electrical connectors and testing for voltage MUST be performed during the high voltage disabling procedure but, for graphic clarity, the connector(s) are shown still connected.

    Disconnect the high voltage electrical connectors. (4) High Voltage Connectors

    Front Trim Finish Compartment (1) - Remove - Front Trim Finish Compartment Removal and Installation

    Front Trim Finish Compartment Support Bolt - Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [4x]

  8. Front Trim Finish Compartment Support - Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]

    Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace Bolt (1) - Remove [12x]

    Disconnect the wiring harness retainers.

  11. Front Suspension Strut Housing Brace (1) - Remove

    Drive Motor Battery Charger Inlet Hose Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove

  13. Disconnect the electrical connector. (4)
  14. Retainer (3) - Release
  15. High Voltage Battery Coolant Inlet Hose (2) @Refrigerant System Control Module - Remove and position aside

    Drive Motor Control Module Coolant Pump Hose Clip Bolt (1) - Remove

  17. Release the radiator outlet hose clips (2) as necessary.
  18. Retainer (3) - Release
  19. High Voltage Battery Coolant Cooler Outlet Hose (4) @Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Propulsion System Coolant Control Valve 1 - Remove and position aside

    NOTE:

    Disconnect the electrical connector and reposition the wiring harness as necessary.

  21. Push in the tabs on the drive motor battery surge tank inlet hose connector (1) to release the internal retainer.
  22. Retainer (3) - Release

  25. Front Electric Drive Transmission Module Hose (1) @Front Electric Drive Transmission Module - Remove
  26. High Voltage Battery Coolant Inlet Secondary Hose Nut (2) - Remove

    Retainer (1) - Release

  28. Front Electric Drive Transmission Module Hose (2) @Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Battery Coolant Pump - Left Side - Remove and position aside

    High Voltage Battery Coolant Inlet Secondary Hose Nut (3) - Remove

  30. Drive Motor Battery Charger Receptacle Coolant Outlet Hose Clip (2) - Release
  31. High Voltage Battery Coolant Pump Inlet Hose (1) @High Voltage Battery Heater Module - Remove and position aside

    High Voltage Battery Coolant Inlet Secondary Hose Nut (1) - Remove

  33. Retainer (2) - Release
  34. Heater Coolant Heater Inlet Hose (3) @High Voltage Battery Heater Module - Remove and position aside

    NOTE:

  36. Disconnect the electrical connector. (2)

    High Voltage Battery Heater Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

    Wiring Harness Retainer (1) - Disconnect [2x]

    High Voltage Battery Heater Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

    Disconnect the electrical connector and release the wiring harness retainers as necessary. (1, 2)

    Drive Motor Power Inverter Module Cover Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

  49. NOTE:

    Drive motor power inverter module cover seal is not serviceable separately.

    Using a magnetic socket, remove the 3 drive motor power inverter module connector bolts (1).

    Drive Motor Power Inverter Module Bolt (1) - Remove [16x]

  54. Drive Motor Power Inverter Module Cover Gasket (3) - Remove
