Fluid Level Check

Before vehicle is driven, ensure fluid is above DO NOT DRIVE identification hole on dipstick. Drive vehicle 20 miles, until transaxle is at operating temperature (dipstick is hot to touch). Vehicle must be at operating temperature to ensure correct fluid level check. If vehicle has been operated for extended period at high speeds, city traffic in hot weather or towing, transaxle should be allowed to cool 30 minutes before checking fluid level.

Fluid level should be checked with transaxle in "P" position with engine at idle. Fluid level should be within cross-hatched area of dipstick. Ensure only Mercon-V transmission fluid is used. DO NOT overfill transaxle. Fluid will aerate and may cause transaxle malfunction. Excessive fluid must be removed. If transaxle is underfilled, slipping may occur.
