Configuring Powertrain Control Module

CAUTION: After Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is replaced, ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position before battery negative cable is reconnected.
NOTE: After PCM is replaced on vehicle with Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS), it is necessary to configure PCM to work with PATS module.
  1. Insert service card version 4.0 or higher into New Generation STAR (NGS) tester. Connect NGS tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Enter SERVICE BAY FUNCTIONS and select PATS. Enter SECURITY ACCESS. This procedure will take 10 minutes to perform.
  2. When security access is granted, select PARAMETER RESET. DO NOT select any other functions. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect NGS tester from DLC.
  3. Cycle ignition switch from LOCK to RUN position 5 times. Each cycle leave ignition switch in RUN position for at least 3 seconds and leave ignition switch in LOCK position for at least 2 seconds.
  4. PCM/PATS will be initialized and PID PCM_ID will display STORED. Theft indicator should illuminate for 3 seconds, then go out and vehicle will be able to start.
