CAUTION: Ensure battery negative cable is disconnected before replacing Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) module. After PATS module replacement, ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position before reconnecting battery negative cable. Failure to do so may prevent proper initialization from automatically occurring.
NOTE: After new PATS module is installed, or PATS module is replaced with one from another vehicle, it is necessary to configure PATS module. Two PATS keys are necessary to perform this procedure.

  2. When security access is granted, select PARAMETER RESET. Cancel back to main menu. If new PATS module is being programmed, go to next step. If used PATS module is being programmed, select IGNITION KEY CODE ERASE, then go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect NGS tester from DLC. Wait 10 seconds. Insert first key into ignition switch. Turn ignition switch to RUN position for 3 seconds. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove key. Insert second key into ignition switch. Turn ignition switch to RUN position for 3 seconds. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Start vehicle. If vehicle starts, PATS configuration procedure is finished. If vehicle does not start, go to next step.
  4. Cycle each key 2 more times, then start vehicle. If vehicle starts, PATS configuration procedure is finished. If vehicle does not start, connect NGS tester to DLC. Using diagnostic card version 15.0 or higher, enter model year and vehicle type. Select PCM. Enter ACTIVE COMMAND and select KEEP ALIVE MEMORY RESET. Cancel back to previous screen.
  5. Disconnect NGS tester from DLC. Cycle ignition switch from LOCK to RUN 3 times, each time leave in RUN position at least 3 seconds. Theft indicator should illuminate for 3 seconds, then go out and vehicle should be able to start. To program additional key(s), see SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING  .
