Intermediate Servo: Installation

  1. Assemble the intermediate band servo cover, intermediate band servo piston and the servo piston spring.
    1. Install the intermediate band servo piston into the intermediate band servo cover.
    2. Install the servo piston spring on the, intermediate band servo piston.

  2. CAUTION: Do not damage O-ring during installation. Do not press servo cover and O-ring past relief hole in case, or O-ring damage may occur.

  3. Install the intermediate band servo piston assembly into the transmission case.
    • Lubricate intermediate band servo cover O-ring with petroleum jelly.
  4. Using the special tool, install the intermediate band servo cover retaining ring.

  5. Adjust the intermediate band. For additional information, refer to INTERMEDIATE BAND ADJUSTMENT .
  6. Install the main control valve body.
  7. Install the digital Transmission Range (TR) sensor.
  8. If equipped, position the transmission servo heat shield on the transmission and install the nut.

  9. Install the shift cable.
    1. Install the shift cable.
    2. Install the shift cable to the manual control lever.

  10. Install the three way catalytic converter.
  11. NOTE: If the vehicle was not equipped with a fluid filter, install a fluid filter kit. Follow the instructions supplied in the kit. If the vehicle was equipped with a filter, install a new filter.

  12. Install a new in-line transmission fluid filter kit or filter.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms can occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The customer needs to be notified that they may experience slightly different upshifts either soft or firm and this is a temporary condition and will eventually return to normal operating condition.
  15. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  16. Fill the transmission to the correct fluid level and check for correct transmission operation.
