Section 16 (Anti-Theft Alarm System): Description
The anti-theft system is designed to prevent unauthorized entry into passenger doors or luggage compartment. When triggered, horn sounds and headlights and taillights flash. Vehicle starter is disabled. When armed, unauthorized entry is detected by the door ajar switches located in each door, a lock tamper detection switch in the trunk lid lock cylinder, a hood switch on right fender panel, or the ignition lock cylinder tamper sensor (3.8L models). An alarm light is located on the instrument panel.
These components are also used: power door lock switches, door ajar switches, ignition switch tamper switch, horn relay and starter relay. Some functions tie in with remote keyless entry system.
When triggered, system flashes the low beam headlights, parking lamps, taillamps and alarm indicator lamp. The system also disables starter circuit until system is disarmed.
Models with an electronic door lock system have a PANIC feature that operates in conjunction with the anti-theft system and remote keyless entry system. When the PANIC button on the remote transmitter is pushed, the horns will sound and the exterior lights will flash.
