MULTIFUNCTION Switch

  1. Disconnect the multifunction switch connectors. Set the hazard flasher switch to the OFF position unless specified otherwise. Continuity should exist between terminals/pins with the switch in each specified position. Refer to the MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH CONTINUITY  table. See Fig 1 .
  2. If continuity is not as specified, or is poor in any switch position, replace multifunction switch. To test windshield wiper/washer switch, see WIPER/WASHER SYSTEM article.
MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH CONTINUITY

Switch Position Connector I.D. Check Continuity Between Pin Nos.
Left Turn Signal On & Hazard Switch Off (1)
Right Turn Signal On & Hazard Switch Off (2)
Hazard Switch On 14-Pin 6 & 14
Flash-To-Pass On 6-Pin 3 & 4
Headlight Dimmer
On High Beam 6-Pin 3 & 5
On Low Beam 6-Pin 1 & 5
Headlights On 14-Pin 3 & 8
(1) Continuity should exist between terminals No. 2 of 6-pin connector and No. 9 of 14-pin connector.
(2) Continuity should exist between terminals No. 6 of 6-pin connector and No. 9 of 14-pin connector.
