Pinpoint Test Be: Delayed Exit Inoperative
- Set autolamp switch to minimum delay. Cover light sensor (located on dash) to simulate darkness. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, then OFF. Headlights should turn off in approximately 20 seconds. Repeat test with autolamp switch set to maximum delay. Headlights should turn off in approximately 3 minutes. If system operates as described, autolamp system is okay. If system does not operate as described, go to next step.
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) scan tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Request AUTOLAMP ANALOG INPUT STATUS PID. Turn autolamp delay switch to various different positions. After each time switch position is changed, read PID. If PID value varies with each switch change, switch is okay, replace Lighting Control Module (LCM). If PID value does not vary with each switch change, go to next step.
- Unplug LCM connector C2. See Figure. Turn autolamp switch midway between minimum and maximum. Measure voltage at pin No. 8 (Dark Blue/Orange wire) at LCM connector C2. If any voltage is present at pin No. 8, go to step 5). If no voltage is present at pin No. 8, go to next step.
- Unplug headlight switch connector. Measure voltage of Tan/White wire at headlight switch connector. If battery voltage is present replace headlight switch. If battery voltage is not present, repair Tan/White wire and go to next step.
- With LCM connector C2 still unplugged, vary autolamp switch between minimum and maximum. Measure voltage at pin No. 8 (Dark Blue/Orange wire) at LCM connector C2. If voltage changes while varying switch position, replace LCM. If voltage does not change while varying switch position, replace autolamp delay switch.
